The Wisconsin Badgers football program put together a strong 2024 recruiting class in the first year under Luke Fickell

In-state recruiting was a topic of conversation, with several prospects electing to go out of state for college ball. The proverbial wall around the state was crumbling — at least that’s what was made out to be happening — but UW was still able to lure in multiple standout prospects from their own backyard.

The high school football season is coming to a close, and the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association announced their All-State selections on Tuesday morning. Among those honored were a few Badgers commits.

2024 Wisconsin commits Landon Gauthier, Derek Jensen, and Drew Braam were all named to the WFCA All-State First Team.

Gauthier committed to the Badgers back in April. With his help, the Bay Port Pirates finished the season at first in the Fox River Classic – North Conference with a perfect 6-0 record in conference play and an overall record of 8-3. Gauthier and Bay Port were knocked out in the second round of the playoffs by Marquette University High School in late October.

Derek Jensen was the fourth commit in Wisconsin’s 2024 class, and the first offensive lineman commit. Jensen and the Arrowhead Warhawks finished with a 7-4 overall record and a 4-3 record in Classic Eight Conference play. After defeating Mukwonago in round one of the playoffs, Arrowhead fell to Hamilton in the second round of the playoffs.

Drew Braam is the newest addition to Wisconsin’s recruiting class, as the Oak Creek linebacker joined UW as a preferred walk-on. Following his standout senior season, Braam is now Oak Creek’s all-time leader in tackles. Braam and the Knights finished the season with an 8-3 overall record and a 6-1 record in Southeast Conference play. Oak Creek fell to Franklin — who is now playing for the state championship — in the second round of the playoffs.

This 2024 Wisconsin football recruiting class is filled to the brim with talent, and it’s great to see some of the newest Badgers receive high praise for their play this season.

UW’s 2024 class currently sits at No. 24 in the nation, per the industry-genereated 247Sports Composite.
