Madison, Wis. — Greg Gard and the Wisconsin basketball coaching staff have been in contact with another mid-major player who recently entered the transfer portal.

On Saturday evening, Jake Weingarten of StockRisers.com reported that Wisconsin was among the suitors that reached out to Towson transfer Nick Timberlake.

Along with UW, Timberlake has also heard from Penn State, Nebraska, Villanova, Minnesota, Florida, Kansas State, Santa Clara, Illinois, NC State, Butler, Georgia, Seton Hall, Iowa, Providence, San Diego State, Arkansas, Virginia Tech, and several others.

The 6-foot-4, 200-pound senior was a first-team All-Colonial Athletic Conference member this past season, averaging 19.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.1 steals on 41% shooting from beyond the arc.

Timberlake has appeared in 122 career games, starting 90, and has one year of eligibility remaining.

Why Nick Timberlake Makes Sense for Wisconsin Basketball

Nick Timberlake is a battle-tested win that can score and stretch the floor.

Sounds like someone who could slot into immediate minutes for the Wisconsin basketball team next season.

Timberlake has no shortage of suitors, so it’s unlikely this is anything more than Greg Gard kicking the tires on an experienced floor-spacing guard. But it never hurts to throw your hat into the mix.

UW will likely have some movement within the program and should have a couple of scholarships at their disposal this off-season, so expect the Wisconsin basketball program to stay aggressive in the transfer portal.
