Wisconsin Basketball Drops Slightly in the Latest AP 25 Poll
Wisconsin basketball slipped in the top 25 rankings after a 1-1 week.
The latest AP Poll has been released and despite the Badgers loss to Penn State last week, Wisconsin basketball is still in the top-15.
The Badgers came in as the no. 13 in the Week 12 poll, dropping just two spots from no. 11 from last week.

Where Wisconsin Basketball Fell in the AP Poll Voting
According to CollegePollTracker.com, the Badgers received a total of 801 points from the voters of the AP Poll. Duke, who is ranked just ahead of Wisconsin at No. 12, received 832 points. Marquette is just behind the Badgers at No. 14, receiving 747 points.
So the Wisconsin basketball team is firmly in the No. 13 spot.
The highest spot the Badgers appeared on a ballot was at No. 8. Three voters: Darnell Dickson (Daily Herald – Provo, UT), Kevin McNamara (WPRO – Providence, RI), and Todd Golden (CNHI Sports – Bloomington, IN) put them there.
A majority of the voters had Wisconsin between 12-14, which is a great representation of why the Badgers landed where they did.
Dave Borges (New Haven Register – New Haven, CT), has been notoriously tough on the Badgers this season, giving the Badgers their lowest vote at No. 22. Borges had the Badgers at No. 17 in the preseason poll, but since then, he’s had them either unranked or no higher No. 22.
Wisconsin basketball (14-4; 6-1) will travel to Minnesota to take on the Gophers (12-6; 3-4) on Tuesday and then host Michigan State (12-7; 4-4) on Friday night.
The Gophers have dropped three straight games heading into their game on Tuesday night.
Where Other Big Ten Teams Are Ranked
The Wisconsin basketball team is just one of three teams to be ranked in the top 25.
Purdue – No. 2
The Boilermakers continue to sit near the top of the poll. They are considered one of the best teams in the country and the voting reflects that. They received a total of 1,472 points, just 36 behind No. 1 UCONN. They also received 17 first-place votes. They will take on Michigan on Tuesday night.
Illinois – No. 10
The Illini stay just ahead of Wisconsin after beating Michigan and Rutgers last week. They are 14-4 overall and have a 5-2 conference record. They travel to Northwestern and host Indiana this week.
Michigan State – NR
The Spartans are not ranked, but they did receive some votes. They are technically ranked No. 39 after receiving one vote at No. 24 by Shane Mettlen. The other 59 voters left the Spartans off their ballots. But even one vote shows how far they have come from the start of the season. This game will be no cakewalk for the Wisconsin Badgers basketball team on Friday night.
