The Wisconsin Badgers coaching staff has put in a tremendous amount of work this offseason to rebuild the football program’s linebacking corps

Now, the focus has turned to uncovering the right additions at cornerback and on the defensive line to bolster the team’s depth.

A source shared with BadgerNotes.com that Wisconsin football has been in contact with former Texas Longhorns defensive lineman Kristopher Ross and have hosted him on an official visit to Madison.

The 6-foot-2, 255-pound product from Houston left the Longhorns in October and has three years remaining eligibility at his next stop.

Wisconsin Badgers in Contact With Former 4-Star Defensive Lineman

Defensive line coach Greg Scruggs would happily welcome some reinforcements into the Wisconsin Badgers trenches.

After losing Rodas Johnson, Gio Paez, and Darian Varner, their already thin room looks pretty bleak. James Thompson, Curt Neal, Ben Barten, and Cade McDonald are the only players with meaningful experience heading into next season.

Enter the Wisconsin football team’s latest target, Kristopher Ross. Ross was a former consensus four-star defensive lineman and a top 250 prospect in the 2022 recruiting cycle.

Ross began his Texas career as an interior defensive lineman before kicking out to EDGE this past season. He appeared in four games across two years and registered three tackles and two pressures.

Per Pro Football Focus, Ross has played 55 total collegiate snaps.

The Wisconsin Badgers have landed Albany transfer Elijah Hills from the transfer portal on the defensive line, so it’s unclear if they’re looking to add another player to the position right now. For this team to take a noticeable step forward, they’ll need to improve their penetration in the front seven, and the D-line is their last big hole to improve.

Wisconsin football has snaps to sell in the portal, and this is an outside-the-box talent worth looking at who could potentially add some pass-rush at defensive end. It’ll be interesting to see if this relationship materializes further or if it’s just due diligence.
