Wisconsin Badgers Football Gets Favorable News Heading Into 2024
Wisconsin football will return its starting left tackle next season.
Jack Nelson, an integral part of the Wisconsin Badgers football team’s offensive line, is extending his time in Madison.
Since joining the Badgers in 2020 as a four-star in-state recruit from Stoughton under Paul Chryst, Nelson has been a consistent starter since his redshirt freshman season, boasting 38 appearances on the line.
In a recent media session ahead of the ReliaQuest Bowl, Nelson confirmed his decision to return for a fifth season with the Wisconsin football team in 2024.

The Wisconsin Badgers football program has been in wait-and-see mode regarding Jack Nelson’s future with the team. It was still being determined whether he would test the NFL Draft waters like a few of his teammates or return and attempt to improve his stock.
Describing it as a personal and career-driven choice, Nelson emphasized his attachment to the program and the significance it holds for his future.
“It’s a selfish decision, you know,” Nelson told reporters. “It’s a selfish decision process and thinking about what would be best for my future, my family, everything like that,” Nelson confessed. “But then, taking into account how much this place [Wisconsin] means to me, this is something I really want to be a part of as long as I can and want to go out on a good foot, a better foot than it would have been leaving this year.”

In Nelson, the Wisconsin Badgers football team gets back its most experienced offensive lineman at the most important position. He has twice been named an All-Big Ten honorable mention selection (2021, 2022) at both right guard and left tackle.
His return offers stability and a cornerstone for head coach Luke Fickell to build upon in the upcoming 2024 season.
