After a busy offseason assessing his options, former Wisconsin football head coach Paul Chryst has decided where he’ll coach next season.

BadgerNotes.com initially reported that Chryst wouldn’t be the next Iowa Hawkeyes offensive coordinator after being strongly considered for the position at one point by Kirk Ferentz.

Now, FootballScoop conveyed that Chryst has decided to remain on staff with Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns, where he is currently an analyst and special assistant working closely with the quarterbacks.

Paul Chryst had an impressive run with the Wisconsin football program and has been busy job hunting this offseason because of it.

He interviewed with Indiana, Northwestern (which he turned down), and Oregon State. Those schools hired Curt Cignetti, David Braun, and Trent Brey as their head coaches, respectively.

It’s unknown what Chryst’s role will be with Texas next season, but his name will almost assuredly surface again for head coaching gigs in the future, given his impressive resume from his time with the Badgers.

Wisconsin football went 67-26 while Paul Chryst was the head coach of the Badgers and finished with an impressive 43-18 record in Big Ten play. Tack on his time at Pitt, and that number inflates to 86-45. Not bad.

Known as an offensive mind throughout his coaching career, Chryst has positively impacted Texas quarterbacks Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning. Now, he’ll run it back with the Longhorns and provide a stabilizing presence to a program that appeared in the College Football Playoffs and finished with a 12-2 record.

Since Paul Chyrst joined the Texas coaching staff, they’ve officially been able to say they’re back. Coincidence? I think not.
