After three seasons with the Wisconsin Badgers football program, running back Braelon Allen declared for the 2024 NFL Draft

The junior from Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, is still just 19 years old and won’t turn 20 until the end of the month. His impressive physical traits, with an accomplished resume and youth on his side, have made him an intriguing prospect heading draft season and a difficult one to project.

Allen will have plenty of time to improve his draft stock and meet with NFL teams between now, the combine, and the actual draft in April. But here’s a look at where Agent 0 is currently projecting, according to CBS NFL Draft rankings.

Wisconsin Football RB Braelon Allen Projected as Day 2 Pick

Braelon Allen produced three consecutive second-team All-Big Ten honors during his career with the Wisconsin football team. He also left the Badgers No. 9 on the program’s all-time rushing list, finishing with 3,494 yards and 35 touchdowns on 594 carries.

The 6-foot-2, 245-pound running back has made it clear his goal is to become a day-two draft pick.

If CBS sports NFL Draft projections are any indication of the industry’s thoughts, Allen has made a significant jump since their last update, which had him as a Day 3 option going around pick No. 120.

CBS NFL Draft Rankings currently have Allen listed as the No. 1 running back on their big board, ahead of Bucky Irving (Oregon), Will Shipley (Clemson), Jonathan Brooks (Texas), and Audric Estime (Notre Dame), respectively, with a projection of him going at pick No. 63.

That would make the former Wisconsin football running back a day-two selection. But as we all know, it only takes one franchise to believe in the player, see a fit within their offense, and like the tape enough to throw those projections out the window completely.

Here’s to hoping he can continue the tradition of Wisconsin Badgers running backs making a name for themselves in the NFL.
