Greg Gard and the Wisconsin Badgers basketball team have some question marks surrounding their wing depth after AJ Storr entered his name into the NBA Draft. So, they’ve been proactive in the transfer portal, reaching out to one of the top available shooters on the market.

Relentless Hoops owner Trent Markwith reported that the Badgers have gotten into the mix for Belmont wing Cade Tyson. However, schools like Kansas, Oregon, Florida, Auburn, Texas, Indiana, Colorado, Miami, Penn State, Butler, NC State, and Ole Miss are also vying for his services.

As a sophomore, Tyson put up impressive numbers, averaging 16.2 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game. What’s remarkable is his shooting efficiency: He hit 49% from the field and an incredible 46.5% from beyond the arc on 5.5 attempts per game.

It’s easy to understand why Wisconsin basketball coaches want to pursue Tyson. He averaged 1.163 points per possession, according to Synergy, which placed him in the 97th percentile.

Not to mention, the 6-foot-7 wing still has two years of eligibility remaining and comes with 61 games worth of experience from his time with the Bruins — making him an easy high major target.

The Wisconsin basketball program is expected to have an extremely deep backcourt in 2024-25, with Chucky Hepburn, Max Klesmit, John Blackwell, and Kamari McGee all returning. Plus, four-star point guard Daniel Freitag will also factor into the rotation. Should Storr stay in the draft or re-enter the portal, wing depth could become a genuine concern.

Coach Gard and his staff have also been in contact with several other transfers, such as Frankie Fidler, Terrence Edwards Jr., and a few others.
