Braelon Allen was pretty forthcoming about his intentions during the offseason to enter his name into the NFL Draft after his junior year with the Wisconsin football team came to a close.

Those dreams came to fruition for the Fond du Lac native after the Wisconsin Badgers reclaimed the Axe from the Minnesota Gophers.

In his third and final act, the 6-foot-2, 245-pound running back carried the ball 181 times for 984 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also caught a career-high 28 passes for 132 yards, totaling 1,116 yards from scrimmage.

Allen would finish his career as the 9th leading rusher in the history of the Wisconsin football program, totaling 3,494 yards and 35 touchdowns.

During an episode of Locked on Badgers with beloved host Ryan Harings, Allen was asked about his opinion of Luke Fickell and the new coaching staff, and overall, the bruising running back was very complimentary.

Braelon Allen Thinks Wisconsin Football Coaching Staff is Elite

Braelon Allen has taken an unconventional path to becoming an NFL Draft hopeful. Coming out of high school, he was recruited as a safety before eventually sizing himself into being considered a linebacker.

When he got to Madison, he wound up being a running back for the Wisconsin Badgers, which worked out quite well for him. However, he had three different position coaches, one of whom never played running back.

That said, Allen left the program feeling good about the direction of Wisconsin football under the new coaching staff.

“I think overall it’s a very elite coaching staff,” Allen said. “I mean, every position pretty much has, you know, one of the best of the best coaches around.

“I don’t know the new receivers coach, but Coach Brown was awesome from what you know I had heard, and I had seen, and you know he was a guy that I had a really good relationship with. Coach Letton with the tight ends, same thing. I know that all the tight ends love him …. Coach Bic [Bicknell], you know, I thought he did a pretty good job getting our line right.”

Braleon Allen will now begin training for the NFL Draft Combine, which will take place from April 25-27 at Lucas Oil Stadium. He’s currently projected to be a 3rd to 4th-round draft pick by most networks.

“I think the program’s headed in a good direction,” Allen stated. “I’m excited to watch these guys over the next few years. And I’ll be interested to see, you know, what it is like, you know, from the outside looking in. Now, being a part of it all and seeing how things go.”
