The Wisconsin football program has been very active in the transfer portal, securing nine transfer commitments since the portal opened on December 4th. The Badgers are searching for help at several different positions on defense, and one that has emerged recently is defensive back

Looking to avoid any depth issues, the Badgers extended an offer to Georgia Tech transfer cornerback KJ Wallace. The former Yellowjacket took to social media to announce the offer.

Wallace has also announced offers from Oklahoma State and UCLA. Luke Fickell and the Wisconsin football program were the first school to offer the former Georgia Tech standout.

Wallace started his college career at Notre Dame, spending three seasons with the Fighting Irish. After seeing time very sparingly from 2019-2021, the Atlanta native transferred to Georgia Tech and quickly found himself a starting role.

In 2022, Wallace recorded 45 tackles, an interception, a pass deflection, and a sack. He took a step up in his junior year, appearing in all 12 games with ten starts and recording 42 tackles, seven pass deflections, two forced fumbles, an interception, a sack, and a fumble recovery last season.

Coming out of high school, Wallace was a consensus four-star prospect. He was ranked as the No. 310 player in the nation, the No. 31 CB, and the No. 32 player9 in Georgia, per the industry-generated composite rankings.

Wisconsin’s secondary was one of its strongest areas in the 2023 season, with standouts like Hunter Wohler and Ricardo Hallman having big seasons. However, some other contributors did not live up to the occasion, making defensive back a vital position to get some insurance. It’s not necessarily a huge position of need, but with some unproven talent waiting in the wings, some experience would be beneficial for this group.

As it stands, the Wisconsin football program holds the No. 16 transfer class in the nation with its nine commitments.
