One thing is for certain: this Wisconsin football coaching staff isn’t afraid to throw their hat into the ring for some of the top available talents in the transfer portal, regardless of who is involved.

Notre Dame recruiting insider Tom Loy reported that the Wisconsin Badgers were among a long list of teams vying for Wake Forest transfer wide receiver Jahmal Banks’ services.

Other schools believed to be involved are Michigan, Vanderbilt, Minnesota, Purdue, Wisconsin, West Virginia, Georgia Tech, Boston College, and Charlotte, among others.

As it stands, Banks is the No. 9 ranked wide receiver actively available in the transfer portal, according to 247Sports

Wisconsin Football Showing Interest in Wake Forest Transfer Jahmal Banks.

The Wisconsin football team is well stocked with playmakers out of the slot. That said, the Badgers desperately want to add a starting caliber boundary wide receiver to play opposite Bryson Green.

Enter Jahmal Banks, who has appeared in 44 career games. He recorded 107 catches for 1,404 yards and 13 touchdowns during that time.

The 6-foot-4, 205-pound wideout caught 59 passes for 653 yards and four touchdowns this past season. Notably, Banks had zero drops on 88 targets.

Banks, who was initially a three-star recruit, makes sense for the Wisconsin football offense because of his ability to stretch the field and win at the point of attack in contested catch situations.

Given the number of teams involved, it’s impressive that the Wisconsin Badgers were able to work quickly and get him on campus for an official visit. It’s a situation we’ll continue to monitor closely.

Now that the Badgers have their starting quarterback situation figured out following the commitment of Miami transfer Tyler Van Dyke, weapons will be more likely to make a move to Madison, knowing who will be throwing them the ball.
