Wisconsin Football Alum Takes Assistant Coaching Role in Big 12
The former Badgers standout will now be coaching in the Big 12.
A Wisconsin football alum known for his prowess on the field as a standout inside linebacker is embarking on his coaching journey alongside another familiar face—a former Badgers defensive coordinator.
Chris Orr is joining Baylor as an assistant linebacker coach under Dave Aranda. Aranda was with the Wisconsin Badgers from 2013-15. While Aranda was the defensive coordinator at Wisconsin, he also served as the inside linebackers coach, where he worked with Orr for one season.

During his Wisconsin football career as an inside linebacker, Orr appeared in 50 games, starting 30 of them. Throughout his tenure, Orr amassed 187 tackles, 20.0 tackles for loss, 14.0 sacks, eight pass breakups, four fumble recoveries, and two interceptions.
Notably, in his senior year in 2019, Orr recorded 11.5 sacks, setting a new school record for the most sacks in a single season by an inside/middle linebacker. Additionally, Orr received recognition as a consensus second-team All-Big Ten selection.
Orr briefly served as the Wisconsin football team’s Director of Player Development and also played professionally for several years. Initially signed as an undrafted free agent by the Carolina Panthers in the NFL, he later got drafted by the New Jersey Generals in the 21st round of the 2022 USFL draft. Subsequently, during the 2024 UFL dispersal draft, Orr was selected by the Birmingham Stallions. However, his football career came to a close when he officially retired in March 2024.
Wishing the best of luck to the former Wisconsin Badgers standout in his next chapter.
