Following the Wisconsin basketball team’s first-round exit from the NCAA Tournament, sophomore wing AJ Storr announced his intentions to enter the NBA Draft without hiring an agent. Then, the Badgers guard did what many fans expected and entered the transfer portal shortly after that to keep all options on the table while receiving feedback from pro scouts.

According to NBADraft.net, the 6-foot-7 wing from Rockford is listed at No. 60 on its top 100 prospects list. This ranking is far from a guarantee that Storr will be drafted in 2024, but it will be crucial for him to learn the areas of his game he needs to work on next season to improve his stock.

Because of that, returning to college appears to be the most likely path for Storr in 2024-25. When that happens, it’s growing less and less likely that a return to the Wisconsin basketball team will occur.

In fact, recruiting insiders at 247Sports have already placed a crystal ball prediction for the Badgers’ second-team All-Big Ten wing to remain in the conference and land with his home state, Illinois Fighting Illini.

During his time with the Wisconsin basketball program, Storr played a pivotal role as a bucket-getter for the Badgers, averaging 16.8 points, 3.9 rebounds, 0.9 assists, and 0.6 steals per game. Notably, he scored ten or more points in 34 out of the 36 games played and in 31 straight contests.

If Storr joins Illinois, it would mark his third college in as many seasons and the seventh school in seven years, tracing back to his high school days. The move could address Brad Underwood’s need for wing depth, especially with Terrence Shannon Jr. exiting due to eligibility.

Storr’s potential return to Illinois would be a fitting reunion, considering his initial commitment to the Illini before opting for St. John’s. It’s no secret that Illinois has plenty of NIL money to address their needs. That said, schools like Kansas, Kentucky, Ole Miss, and a few others are worth keeping an eye on in this recruitment.

Meanwhile, Greg Gard and the Wisconsin basketball coaches are actively exploring the transfer portal to fill the voids left by Storr and Tyler Wahl. The Badgers have been linked to a number of forwards in the portal who could complement the returning core of players next season.
