The story of the 2023-24 Wisconsin basketball season cannot be told without AJ Storr. The former St. John’s transfer arrived in Madison with high expectations and not only met them, but he may have exceeded them. A second-team All-Big Ten selection led the Wisconsin Badgers in scoring with 16.8 points per game while adding 3.9 rebounds per contest.

Unfortunately for fans of the Cardinal and White, Storr seems to be on his way out of Wisconsin after just one season. The Illinois native will go through the NBA Draft process while maintaining his college eligibility and has also entered the transfer portal. “With that being said,” Storr’s UW teammates have wished him farewell.

John Blackwell and Storr added a much-needed offensive element to head coach Greg Gard’s squad. The duo on the wing fundamentally changed the Badgers’ dynamic this season. Although the two will not share the court together moving forward, the memories they created will last a lifetime.

Along with Storr and Blackwell, Nolan Winter made his presence known in his first year with Wisconsin basketball. The big man found his role in relief for junior center Steven Crowl. When subbing in for his fellow Lakeville North alumnus, Winter notched 2.4 points and 1.8 rebounds in 9.4 minutes per game. Now, he has his fingers crossed for Storr’s success.

Making the NBA Is the Top Priority for Wisconsin Badger AJ Storr

Connor Essegian, also bound for the transfer portal, told Storr, “Go live your dream twin.” This came before Storr entered the transfer portal but did declare for the NBA Draft. Based on Storr’s social media messages, his main priority is getting to the NBA.

After the news that Storr would enter the transfer portal broke, he remained unphased. With a simple tweet and emoji, the 20-year-old made it clear he is keeping his dream of making the NBA on top of his mind.

Pre-dating the transfer portal news, Storr’s announcement to declare for the NBA Draft was praised by his Wisconsin basketball teammates. Blackwell chimed in to express his support.
