The Wisconsin Badgers basketball program has gotten off to a hot start, currently holding a 12-3 overall record and standing as the only unbeaten Big Ten team in conference play.

A big part of UW’s early season success can be attributed to the ascension of AJ Storr, who transferred into the program during the off-season. His efforts have paved the way for Wisconsin, and he’s earned some recognition for that, as Storr was named to the Lute Olson National Player of the Year Award Midseason Watch List.

The Lute Olson Award is given annually to the most outstanding men’s college basketball player in the NCAA. Storr was named alongside 30 other players, standing with Zach Edey as the only two Big Ten players to get a nod.

Storr has brought another dimension to the Badgers offense with his athleticism, shooting, and fearlessness, which have been instrumental to Wisconsin’s success.

The former St. John’s transfer is currently averaging a team-high 14.9 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 0.9 assists on the season, with shooting splits of 45.4% from the field, 30.2% from beyond the arc, and 83% from the stripe. Storr’s season-high came against Chicago State right before the holiday break, where he registered 29 points, the most by any Badgers player this season.

Storr has received loads of praise for his athletic abilities and how he has improved the team around him, and it’s great to see a difference-maker like him get the recognition he deserves.

The Wisconsin basketball program will look to remain perfect in Big Ten play on Saturday morning as they get set to take on the 12-3 Northwestern Wildcats.
