When Greg Gard and the No. 21 Wisconsin basketball team return to the floor tonight against Iowa to resume Big Ten play, it’s possible they could be without starting point guard Chucky Hepburn.

During an 80-53 win over Chicago State at the Kohl Center, Hepburn suffered a groin injury and had to be helped off the floor. He didn’t return to the game, and his status has been up in the air ever since.

After an 11-day layoff for the holidays, CBS Sports insider Jon Rothstein reported that Hepburn is listed as questionable entering tonight’s game. Wisconsin Badgers officials would later confirm that report.

Now, it’s important to remember that being labeled questionable doesn’t mean Chucky Hepburn won’t find a way to play against Iowa.

But suppose Wisconsin basketball is forced to play without the junior point guard. In that case, we’ll likely see the Badgers deploy a committee approach using a combination of Max Klesmit, John Blackwell, and Kamari McGee as the primary ball handlers.

“He [Hepburn] was walking around in the locker room a little bit,” Gard told reporters following the Chicago State game. “He’s gonna be sore, but he says he’ll be fine…he’ll have some time to rest here and get him back.”

On the season, Hepburn is averaging 9.0 points, 3.9 assists, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.7 steals per game in just over 30 minutes a contest.

Wisconsin basketball (9-3, 1-0 B1G) takes the court tonight at 6 PM on BTN against Fran McCaffery and company, and hopefully, Hepburn will be available to keep things rolling.
