Ending their four game losing streak Wednesday night, Wisconsin basketball hits the road again today for an afternoon clash with Iowa. The Hawkeyes are coning off a 12 point loss to Maryland Wednesday evening. They are 14-11 overall and 6-8 in the Big Ten.

Can the Badgers sweep the season series after beating Iowa 83-72 in Madison on January 2? Or can the Hawkeyes get their first quad one win of the season. Tip time is 1:15 PM on BTN. Here are the keys to victory today.

Wisconsin Basketball Has to Get the Offense Rolling

Ever since the Badgers and Iowa first met up in January, the Hawkeyes are giving up an average of 78 points a game. They will let any team score and want games to be fast and high scoring.

If you’re Wisconsin basketball, do you have enough offense to score that much? Right now, I am not sure. The offense is pretty sloppy right now with too many turnovers early in games. The Badgers just look unsure and uncomfortable shooting and moving the ball around.

On the other hand, this could be a game where you could break that trend and get back on the right side of things offensively. How Wisconsin basketball opens up in the first 10 minutes of this game will be huge.

Keep Iowa Off the Three Point Line

Iowa is a team that loves to shoot behind the three. They are streaky, but when they’re on, they can blow any team off the court, especially at Carver Hawkeye Arena.

The Badgers have to look for shooters like Payton Sandfort, Josh Dix, and Tony Perkins. Those three can take over a game when they are on. Patrick McCaffrey can also get it going if he finds an early rhythm.

Right now, the Hawkeyes are one of the highest scoring teams in the Big Ten at 84 points a game. Wisconsin basketball had a better defensive showing against Ohio State, but this is a much better offense. The Badgers will be tested.

Play Just as Desperate

Coming into this game, this is essentially a must win for Iowa. At 11 losses and multiple quad one games left, Iowa is running out of chances to get into the NCAA Tournament, It’s also been reported this game will be a sell out.

Carver Hawkeye Arena can be loud and a huge home court advantage. Historically, Iowa plays much better at home than on the road.

If you’re Wisconsin basketball, you need to go on a little run here as well going into the Big Ten Tournament and improving your NCAA Tournament resume, A road win today could spring this team to go on a nice little run to end the regular season.
