Wisconsin Basketball: Former In-State Target Emerges in Transfer Portal
The Badgers are among the teams showing interest in Skogman.
Greg Gard and the Wisconsin Badgers basketball coaching staff are circling back on a former in-state recruit who has entered the portal.
David Skogman, a Waukesha native who spent his first two collegiate seasons at Buffalo before transferring to Davidson, had decided to utilize his COVID year and return for a fifth and final season.

The Badgers, who extended a walk-on spot offer to Skogman back in 2020, are among the interested parties vying for the 6-foot-10 big man.
This past season Skogman averaged 13.3 points and 4.9 rebounds on a blistering 47% from beyond the arc. Notably, he’s a 40% 3-point shooter throughout his career on 219 attempts — so it’s legit.
Skogman would make sense for Wisconsin basketball because of his low usage and shot selection. According to HoopMath, he takes 38.9% of his shots at the rim and converts at a 64.3% clip. Further, 47.2% of Skogman’s attempts come from beyond the arc, where he hit 47%.
He has appeared in 93 games during his career, starting 43, and would have just one year of eligibility remaining at his next stop.
The Badgers could certainly use another experienced big man option capable of playing inside-out to offset the Tyler Wahl departure. Given the staff’s prior relationship with Skogman, their lack of proven depth, and the in-state ties, this could make some sense.
Thus far, the Wisconsin basketball coaching staff has been in touch with several frontcourt options in the transfer portal, such as William Kyle III, Mikeal Brown Jones, Toby Okani, and Malik Dia.
