Wisconsin Badgers Transfer Commits to Another Big Ten Program
The former Badgers offensive lineman will stay in the Big Ten.
After four seasons playing for the Wisconsin Badgers, in-state offensive lineman Trey Wedig entered the transfer portal, and it didn’t take him long to find his new home.
Wedig, a former top 125 prospect in the 2020 recruiting class, announced on social media Saturday night that he’s officially committed to the Indiana Hoosiers under the leadership of new head coach Curt Cignetti.

Cignetti was the former head coach at James Madison, where he’s coming off a wildly successful run, going 52-9 during his time with the Dukes. It’s also worth noting that Coach Cignetti chose to retain the Hoosiers offensive line coach, Bob Bostad, who worked with Wedig during his time with the Wisconsin Badgers football program.
Wisconsin Badgers Offensive Lineman Trey Wedig Staying in the Big Ten
During his time with the Wisconsin Badgers football team, Trey Wedig appeared in 32 games, earning time at both guard spots and also right tackle, making him a versatile pickup for the Hoosiers.
In 10 games for Wisconsin football in 2023, Wedig logged 252 total snaps, all of which came at left or right guard. However, his playing time dwindled following the Iowa game — and rightfully pursued an avenue where he’ll find more playing time. Wedig is a Power 5 starting-caliber offensive lineman — and Indiana seems like a good fit.
According to Pro Football Focus, Wedig finished with a 67.0 grade (good) for the Wisconsin Badgers this past season — and a 73.7 grade in 2022.
Best of luck to the Kettle Moraine High School standout in his next chapter.
