The Wisconsin football program has put together a solid 2024 class, as the Badgers currently hold 20 commitments in the cycle. 

Xavier Lucas, a three-star safety, was one of the most recent additions to Wisconsin’s 2024 class. According to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite, Lucas is the No. 626 player in the nation, the No. 65 safety, and the No. 84 player in Florida.

Lucas’s recruitment came down to the wire prior to his initial commitment, but the Fort Lauderdale, Florida native seemed solid in his decision at the time.

However, an extra wrinkle has been added to Lucas’ recruitment story as we draw closer to National Signing Day.

According to a report by CaneSport, Xavier Lucas is a priority target for the Miami Hurricanes, and an official visit has been scheduled. 

 


Prior to Lucas’ initial commitment, the Badgers were in a foot race with Florida State to land the American Heritage High School standout’s services. The Seminoles picked up a few strong prospects in the secondary, leading Lucas to take a closer look at UW. Now, it seems that Florida State has backed off, but Miami is pushing hard for the three-star safety.

Wisconsin currently has one other safety commit in the 2024 cycle in Rafael Dunn. Lucas will take his visit next week to Miami as the Badgers hope to retain his commitment as the Hurricanes are really pushing after the Fort Lauderdale native.

As it stands, the Wisconsin football program holds the No. 26 recruiting class in the 2024 recruiting rankings.
