With the Wisconsin Badgers football team entering its November slate of games, it’s time to take a step back and assess the bigger picture of the Big Ten West standings.

Currently, the B1G West is in complete and utter disarray, which is quite fitting for its final season. Four programs currently hold a 3-2 record in conference play: Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota, and Nebraska — creating a multi-way tie for first (with tiebreakers, of course).

Looking ahead, the Wisconsin Badgers will face both Nebraska and Minnesota, presenting crucial head-to-head matchups that could dictate the outcome of the Big Ten West title race.

There also exists an unlikely scenario where every team ends up with a losing conference record, and Nebraska manages to secure a spot in the title game — but I’m not counting on that.

How Does Wisconsin Football Win the Big Ten West Division?

For Luke Fickell and the Wisconsin football program to have a shot at the title, the Badgers need Iowa to stumble in another conference game since the Hawkeyes currently hold the head-to-head tiebreaker.

Iowa is coming off a bye week and faces a surprisingly capable Northwestern team in Evanston this Saturday. Meanwhile, Nebraska and Minnesota are favored against Michigan State and Illinois, respectively.

None of that matters, however, if the Wisconsin Badgers don’t take care of their own business in Bloomington. Then, they’ll also need to win the remainder of its regular season schedule if Wisconsin football is going to punch its ticket to Indianapolis for the first time in three years.

As always, the Big Ten West race makes less and less sense as the season wears on. I vote this division never disbands.
