The Wisconsin football program came up short for a big-time target in the 2025 recruiting class on Saturday afternoon.

UW managed to crack the top five for four-star LB Anthony Sacca alongside Ohio State, Alabama, Notre Dame, and Duke, but the Pennsylvania native announced that he would continue his football and academic career with the Fighting Irish.

According to the composite rankings, Sacca is the No. 187 player in the nation, the No. 25 LB, and the No. 5 player in Pennsylvania.

Wisconsin Football Loses Another Recruiting Battle to Notre Dame

The Fighting Irish have had the Badgers’ number in the 2025 recruiting cycle thus far. Overall, Notre Dame holds the No. 1 class in the country with 19 commits, including Wisconsin targets such as in-state products James Flanigan and Owen Strebig, plus three-star OL Matty Augustine and now Sacca.

UW stayed near the top of Sacca’s list thanks in part to Omillio Agard, a former teammate of Sacca at St. Joseph’s Prep in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Sacca was slated to make his way to Madison for a junior day trip, but inclement weather prevented the trip from happening.

Wisconsin will have to move down its recruiting board following Sacca’s decision, but the Badgers currently hold commitments from in-state linebacker Cooper Catalano, as well as outside linebackers Brenden Anes and Samuel Lateju.

As it stands, the Wisconsin football program holds the No. 11 recruiting class in the country, per the composite rankings.
