Wisconsin Badgers head football coach Luke Fickell is adding an ascending homegrown special teams analyst to their coaching staff.

FootballScoop is reporting that the Wisconsin Badgers are hiring Eric Raisbeck.

He was recently appointed to oversee the special teams at UC-Davis — an FCS program — after four seasons as an analyst at Penn State.

Raisbeck joined Penn State in 2020 after spending a year at Utah State, where he worked alongside Stacy Collins. Collins is the former special teams coordinator for the Detroit Lions and won the Mountain West Special Teams Coordinator of the Year with the Aggies that year.

He now returns home for this new role with the Wisconsin football team.

Eric Raisbeck Joining the Wisconsin Football Staff

Badgers head coach Luke Fickell continues to take rebuilding the Wisconsin football program special teams unit seriously — with the Raisbeck addition being the latest example.

In his new position, Raisbeck will be working closely with Matt Mitchell, who serves as the special teams coordinator and outside linebackers coach for the Wisconsin Badgers.

Raisbeck brings a wealth of knowledge to the Badgers’ staff with a diverse coaching background that includes NCAA Division II, Division III, NAIA football, and international experience from his time in Europe.

During his time with the Nittany Lions, their special teams achieved remarkable success, boasting top-10 national rankings across various statistical categories. These include being ranked 10th in special teams efficiency percentage, 9th in punt return average, 6th in punt coverage, 4th in kickoff coverage, 3rd in punt and kick return touchdowns, 3rd in overall special teams rating, and holding the top spot in punt and kick return touchdowns allowed.

This addition to the coaching staff comes as Wisconsin football prepares for its second season under coach Fickell. Spring practice is just around the corner, and incorporating Raisbeck’s expertise into the special teams unit could give the Badgers an added edge as they aim to bounce back in 2024.
