The Wisconsin football program has a long-standing history of producing NFL talent, considering the Badgers have had a player selected in the draft every season since 1979, and this year is no exception.

With the announcement of the Reese’s Senior Bowl watchlist, a prestigious honor for college football players, it should come as no surprise that the University of Wisconsin was well represented.

A total of nine Wisconsin Badgers players have earned a spot on the Senior Bowl watchlist, solidifying the team’s reputation for identifying and developing talent.

Let’s take a look at which players are on the NFL’s radar.

Among this group, the new offensive system Wisconsin football is running this season has a chance to propel the stock of Mordecai and Dike the most, IMO. I already view Nelson as a top-100 NFL draft pick — so unless he has an All-American type of season that vaults him into first-round consideration — I think he’s Gucci. And in the case of Bortolini, the versatility he’s shown during his Badgers career will definitely appeal to NFL scouts.

On defense, Njongmeta is someone I think will end up getting drafted. If he can take another step forward in Mike Tressel’s multiple defensive front, he only stands to improve his draft stock. However, I don’t think the other names mentioned (Jordan Turner could be the exception) are likely to become NFL draft picks in the spring — but a few of them should find their way onto some preseason rosters with a chance to develop on the practice squad.
