Wisconsin Badgers head football coach Luke Fickell and his staff have landed another 2025 in-state product on the recruiting trail.

Following a mid-week unofficial visit to Madison, three-star defensive lineman Torin Pettaway from Middleton High School announced his verbal commitment to the Badgers over reported scholarship offers from Illinois, Minnesota, Nebraska, Rutgers, USC, and Washington.

“Feeling blessed with all the love that I have received after my first football season,” Pettaway wrote. “Wouldn’t be where I am today without God and support from my family and coaches. Proud to say I will be committing to UW Madison to further my academic and football career!”

Pettaway is the ninth commit in the Wisconsin football team’s 2025 recruiting class, which ranks No. 8 in the country, per the composite.

Former Wisconsin football defensive line coach Greg Scruggs did the heavy lifting in this recruitment. Still, the assist goes to E.J. Whitlow, who connected with Pettaway during his unofficial visit and sealed the deal.

According to 247Sports, Pettaway is the No. 59 defensive lineman in the 2025 recruiting class and the No. 8 player in Wisconsin, despite last year being his first high school football season for the Middleton Cardinals.

Pettaway is 6-foot-5 and 265 pounds and registered 25 tackles, 5.0 TFLs, four sacks, two interceptions, and a forced fumble, per WisSports, en route to first-team all-conference honors.

From everything I’ve heard, the Wisconsin football coaching staff is still looking to add two more defensive linemen to this recruiting class.
