The bye week brings both good news and bad news for the Wisconsin Badgers football team.

The bad news? The Badgers didn’t play a game and we couldn’t watch them.

The good news? The Badgers had a week to heal up a bit and also didn’t have a chance to lose a game either. And because they didn’t lose a game and plenty of teams ahead of them did, the Wisconsin football team was able to move up the AP poll a bit.

So let’s take a look at where the Badgers and other Big Ten teams landed in the Week 6 AP Poll.

The Wisconsin Football Team Moves Up in the Latest AP Poll

Last week, the Wisconsin football team found themselves unranked, but received some votes, putting them at No. 35 in the Week 5 poll. But this week, they are still unranked, but are trending upwards!

According to CollegePollTracker (CPT), the Badgers moved from No. 35 to No. 32 without even playing a game. Here’s how the voting broke down for the Badgers.

They appeared on three ballots for voters. Jon Wilner, who has consistently had the Wisconsin football team in his top 25, has the Badgers ranked the highest at No. 23. Wilner should quickly become the favorite voter for all Badger fans. He hasn’t lost faith in the Badgers like every other writer out there.

Next, Mike Berardino, from the South Bend Tribune put Wisconsin at No. 24.

Finally, Wisconsin’s own beat writer, Colten Bartholemew has Wisconsin at No. 25.

With those votes, the Badgers earned a grand total of 6 points. That puts them just ahead of Clemson and West Virginia, who are at No. 33 with five points. Kansas (No. 35) and Colorado (No. 37) both lost last week and tumbled completely out of the top 25 and behind the Badgers.

Where Other Big Ten Teams Landed in the AP Poll

Let’s take a look at where Big Ten teams other than Wisconsin football landed in the Week 6 AP Poll and a little breakdown for each team.

Michigan – No. 2: The Wolverines rolled over Nebraska in Lincoln on Saturday. It was an absolute beatdown. So the Wolverines stayed at No. 2, but made a lot of ground on Georgia for the top spot. Last week, they had one first-place vote. This week, they had 12. Next week the Wolverines will go to Minnesota to take on the Gophers.

Ohio State – No. 4: Like Wisconsin football, the Buckeyes had a bye this week. They stayed at No. 4 but also received a first-place vote. Next up, they will play Maryland, who is currently undefeated and just outside the top 25.

Penn State – No. 6: The Nittany Lions survived a scare at Northwestern over the weekend. It wasn’t enough to scare voters as they stayed at No. 6 for the second consecutive week. They received two votes as high as No. 2 and as low as 9. Next, Penn State has a bye before taking on Massachusetts in Week 8.

Maryland – UR: The Terrapins remain undefeated after taking down Indiana, 44-7. They are technically ranked 26th and just nine points behind Lousiville for the 25th spot. The Terps will travel to Ohio State this week.

Wisconsin  – UR: The Wisconsin football team is the last team to receive any votes. They are at No. 32 and looking to get back into the top 25 in the next week or two if they can continue to win games. They will play Rutgers at home this week and enter the game as 13-point favorites.
