Wisconsin Football Adds Another In-State Talent to 2024 Recruiting Class

Luke Fickell and the University of Wisconsin football program have added another in-state target to their 2024 recruiting class. 

Homestead standout Deed Capper, a 4.5-star specialist, took to social media to announce his commitment to the Wisconsin Badgers. 

“Football has always been my passion,” Capper wrote on X. “Playing in college has always been my goal, and my dream was to become a Wisconsin Badger. Today, I’m honored to announce that my dream has become a reality, and I will be committing to play for the University of Wisconsin. 

“I want to thank God because without Him, none of this would be possible. I’m grateful to my family and friends for their unwavering support. … Lastly, I’d like to thank Coach Raisbeck, Coach Mitchell, and Coach Fickell for giving me this incredible opportunity.”

Deed Capper Joining the Wisconsin Football Program as Preferred Walk-On

Deed Capper is officially in the fold for the Badgers and will join the Wisconsin football team as a preferred walk-on this summer. 

Standing at 6-foot-3, 225 pounds, Capper is considered the nation’s No. 38 long-snapper, according to Kohls Kicking Camps. 

“Capper is physically one of the most impressive prospects in the 2024 class,” Kohl’s talent evaluators wrote. “He has great size and is an impressive athlete. Capper is relatively new to snapping and has worked his tail off to refine himself into someone who can play at the next level. He competed at the Kohl’s Senior Challenge and had an average snap time of .7 seconds. Capper has all the attributes you look for in your snapper and the talent to be truly special.”

Capper will join a group of Wisconsin football long-snappers led by Cincinnati transfer Cayson Pfeiffer, a sixth-year senior, and redshirt senior Duncan McKinley. After some continued development, there would appear to be a path to compete for playing time in 2025 and beyond. 

Wisconsin football coaches have now put together a preferred walk-on class consisting of Capper, quarterback Milos Spasojevic, linebacker Drew Braam, tight end Langdon Nordgaard, safety Mason Lane, specialist Sean West, and three-star outside backer Cody Raymond.
