Following a dominant 88-72 victory over the red-hot Nebraska Cornhuskers, Greg Gard and the Wisconsin Badgers basketball team (11-3, 3-0 B1G) now sit at No. 15 in the AP Top 25 poll, jumping six spots since last week.

Ahead of a dangerous matchup against the Ohio State Buckeyes (12-3, 2-2 B1G), the Badgers now officially stand amongst the nation’s best — and will likely continue to climb.

Wisconsin Basketball Spotted at No. 15 in the AP Poll

On paper, the toughest stretch of the season is already in the past for the Wisconsin Badgers.

With convincing wins over Marquette, Michigan State, Virginia, and Nebraska, it’s hard to argue Wisconsin’s most recent placement in the national polls. While earlier losses to Arizona and Tennessee hardly affect the team’s standing at this point, a slip-up at Providence is probably the only factor keeping the Badgers out of the top-10.

Wisconsin is also the only remaining undefeated team in Big Ten conference play, ahead of No. 1 Purdue (3-1 B1G) and No. 10 Illinois (2-1 B1G). With a road clash against Tom Izzo’s Spartans in East Lansing already out of the way, finishing top-three in the conference should be a reasonable goal for the Badgers this season — or even possibly on top.

It’s safe to say that we are watching the deepest and most talented squad in the Greg Gard era. Led by sophomore A.J. Storr (14.7 PPG), junior Chucky Hepburn (8.9 PPG, 4.0 APG), and junior Steven Crowl (12.6 PPG, 7.6 RPG), it’s reasonable to suggest that this team could compete with anyone in the entire country on any given day. Early frontrunner for B1G “Freshman of the Year” John Blackwell (9.2 PPG, 3.9 APG) has provided a much-needed spark off the bench for the Badgers, complimented by the silent scoring abilities of Tyler Wahl (11.9 PPG) and Max Klesmit (7.2 PPG).

Wisconsin basketball is set to face Ohio State (12-3), Northwestern (11-3) and Penn State (8-7) in their next three matchups, all of which they should be favored to win. Don’t be shocked to see the Badgers continue their flight up the AP Poll.
