The Wisconsin Badgers Wrestling program has renewed rankings ahead of the “double dual” vs. Rider and Drexel on on Saturday. Beginning at 11AM, the Badgers compete against the Broncs from Rider in Lawrenceville, NJ before making the trek south and squaring off with the Dragons of Drexel at 5PM in Philadelphia, PA.

New InterMat Individual Rankings Released for Wisconsin Badgers Wrestling program

No. 11 Eric Barnett at 125 pounds. (down from No. 10)

No. 17 Joseph Zargo at 149 pounds. (up from No. 18)

No. 6 Dean Hamiti at 165 pounds. (down from No. 5)

No. 28 Max Maylor at 174 pounds. (down from No. 26)

While I refuse to be the guy that complains about rankings, especially in December, I do find it frustrating to see guys have dominating wins and still fall in the rankings.  The beautiful thing about the sport of wrestling is that you cannot hide.  If you want to be a champion or All-American, you have to prove it on the resilite.

I am sure the Wisconsin Wrestling program doesn’t put too much stock into weekly rankings but its still disappointing to see a drop. Did InterMat even watch the matches?

I would think not.

New InterMat Tournament and Dual Rankings Released

Wisconsin checks in this week ranked No.26 (down from No.25) in tournament rankings and No. 29 (no change) in duals rankings according to InterMat.

Ahead if the double duals on Saturday, Coach Bono is looking to get his guys out and challenge them.

Prior to the dual against Bucknell, Dean Hamiti was honored with his 2023 Big Ten Championship ring! Congrats DJ!
