Wisconsin Badgers wrestling brought home a champ in the Loras Open

The No. 17 Wisconsin Badgers Wrestling program, fresh off a tough loss on the road to Michigan State, was in action Saturday at the Loras Open in Dubuque, Iowa.

Let’s take look at the Badgers wrestlers and see how the Badgers performed.

125 pounds

Simon Kruse was in action for Wisconsin at 125 pounds and finished his day in 5th place with a 1–2 record overall – including a 23–5 technical fall.

157 pounds

Cody Goebel and Royce Nilo represented the Wisconsin Badgers in the 157 pound division.

Nilo had a great day on the mat and placed 1st in the consolation bracket following a 5–1 record overall – powered by two pins!

Goebel had a good day overall and finished 4th with a 3–2 record – including a major decision.

165 pounds

Danny Sheen and Gavin Model were both in the 165 pound weight class and clashed in the Loras Open consolation finals!

Sheen notched a 4–1 record overall and earned a 1st place finish in the consolation bracket with a victory over his teammate Model in the consolation finals.

Model battled and was able to win two matches and finished his day 2–2 overall.

174 pounds

Welcome to Wisconsin Badgers wrestling, David Mitrovich!

Making his Badgers debut – Mitrovich earned himself a 2–2 record – including a pin!

184 pounds

Luke Condon aka The California Condor (nickname still pending approval)!

Condon had himself a day on Saturday at the Loras Open.  Finishing his day 5–0 overall with all of his wins come by way of bonus points! Not only did he torch the competition – the young buck was the champion of the 184 pound weight class!

197 pounds

Michael Talshahar had a nice outing for the Badgers at 197 pounds. He competed hard and earned himself a 4th place finish behind 3–2 record overall.  Talshahar secured two of wins by bonus points – a pin and technical fall.

What’s Next for Wisconsin Badgers Wrestling?

Wisconsin is back in action on Sunday 1/28 with a home dual vs No. 6 Nebraska.
