Source: Wisconsin Basketball to Play in Secret Scrimmage
Per source, Wisconsin men’s basketball will play in a “secret scrimmage” next Saturday.
According to a source, Greg Gard and the Wisconsin men’s basketball program have added a noteworthy preseason matchup to the calendar in preparation for the upcoming 2023-24 season.
Their schedule includes a secret scrimmage against Northern Iowa that will take place next Saturday before playing in an exhibition matchup against UW-Stevens Point.
These games will serve as the final tune-up before the Wisconsin Badgers officially tip off their season against Arkansas State on November 6.
Wisconsin Basketball Looking to Bounce Back This Season
In an effort to fine-tune their performance and establish their footing for the challenges ahead, the Wisconsin basketball team is leaving no stone unturned during their preseason preparations.
The secret scrimmage against Northern Iowa, while concealed from public view, provides an opportunity for the team to test their mettle against an opponent in a controlled, competitive setting.
These scrimmages are valuable for UW coaches to assess their team’s strengths and weaknesses, identify who’s ready for a meaningful role, and if they can make necessary adjustments on the fly.
Greg Gard mentioned that it’s open season on minutes within the Wisconsin men’s basketball team — given the influx of depth and talent the Badgers have this season.
It’ll be interesting to see if any details from this secret scrimmage (like a box score) are revealed afterward.
