Wisconsin football linebacker Izayah Green-May joins the Badgers recruiting department
Wisconsin linebacker Izayah Green-May (50) is shown during the second quarter of their game Friday, October 23, 2020 at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, Wis. Wisconsin beat Illinois 45-7.

The Wisconsin football program will have a familiar face back in the fold, taking a role with the UW recruiting department.

Former Badgers outside linebacker Izayah Green-May took to social media to confirm a report that he will return to Madison for a role in the department headed by Pat Lambert and Max Steinecker.

Former Wisconsin Football LB Joins Recruiting Department

Green-May joined the Badgers as a part of the 2017 recruiting class. He was rated as a three-star recruit per the composite rankings and chose Wisconsin football over offers from Michigan State, Minnesota, Illinois, Indiana, Syracuse, Cincinnati, and Mississippi State, among others.

Green-May redshirted in his freshman season before appearing in six games in 2018, where he logged one tackle. His playing time jumped in 2019, appearing in 12 games and making his first start as an outside linebacker, totaling five tackles and a sack.

Injuries hampered Green-May in the last stretch of his collegiate career, as he was sidelined due to injuries sustained in the 2019 and 2020 home openers. He bounced back and appeared in nine games for the Badgers in his final season with the program in 2021, where he registered two tackles.

When it was all said and done, he finished with career marks of eight tackles, 1.0 TFLs, and one sack.

Green-May elected to transfer after the 2021 season and ended up at Northern Illinois, where he had his best statistical season. The former Wisconsin football linebacker logged 34 tackles, 5.0 TFLs, three sacks, three pass breakups, and two fumble recoveries.

The former Badger also had a brief stint in the USFL with the Pittsburgh Maulers, recording one tackle and one sack in 2023.

Since Luke Fickell and the new regime took over, Wisconsin football has had much success on the recruiting trail. In the first full cycle in 2024, UW brought in the second-highest-rated class in program history and reached the coveted 50% blue-chip ratio mark. They’re also off to a strong start in the 2025 class, holding seven commitments and the No. 17 class in the nation, per the composite rankings.
