According to the composite rankings, Posa is the No. 268 player in the country, the No. 31 LB, and the No. 1 player in New Mexico.
Posa made an official visit to Wisconsin during the first weekend in June. He is now the fourth visitor from the first official visit weekend to announce their commitment to UW, joining Logan Powell, Rukeem Stroud, and Nolan Davenport.
Posa was a highly sought-after prospect, fielding 23 offers with notable schools, including Alabama, Oregon, USC, Texas A&M, Oklahoma State, TCU, Utah, Nebraska, and many others throwing their hats in the ring.
This is a big one for UW, as Posa was the No. 1 target at this stage of the 2025 cycle, regardless of position. The four-star linebacker listed Oregon and Texas A&M alongside Wisconsin in his top three schools a few weeks ago, and the Badgers were able to secure his commitment before his planned trips to Eugene and College Station.
In his junior season at La Cueva High School, the 6-foot-3, 210-pound linebacker recorded 99 tackles, 14.0 TFLs, seven sacks, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and an interception, according to MaxPreps.
Posa is now the fourth linebacker commitment for UW in the 2025 cycle, joining Brenden Anes, Cooper Catalano, and Samuel Lateju. He will pair with Catalano on the inside for the Badgers, while Anes and Lateju will line up on the outside.
With Posa’s verbal pledge, the Wisconsin football program now holds 18 commitments in the 2025 recruiting class, which currently ranks as the No. 13 class in the nation per the composite rankings.
