Despite a recent commitment to SMU, three-star cornerback target Zay Gentry will still make his way to Madison for an official visit with the Wisconsin football program.

Gentry confirmed on social media Wednesday that he will make his way to UW this weekend.

According to the composite rankings, Gentry is the No. 515 player in the nation, the No. 44 CB, and the No. 89 player in Texas.

The McKinney, Texas native committed to SMU on May 19th. He chose the Mustangs over Wisconsin, Missouri, Oklahoma State, and Baylor, who all landed in Gentry’s top five in April.

Gentry is considered one of Wisconsin’s top cornerback targets in the 2025 cycle. The Badgers currently hold a commitment from four-star cornerback Jai’mier Scott, and they’re also pursuing Mason Alexander, Rukeem Stroud, Charles Bell, Jahmare Washington, and several others to fill up the secondary.

UW has taken six defensive backs in the last two recruiting cycles, and it’s expected that two or more will be taken in the 2025 class.

Gentry recorded 41 tackles, four pass breakups, and two interceptions in his junior season at McKinney High School.

Gentry is one of many prospects who will make their way to UW as a part of a massive recruiting weekend. The May 31-June 2nd visitor list is highlighted by four-star prospects Jayden Woods, Mason Posa, Mason Alexander, and Eugene Hilton Jr., along with top targets such as Nizyi Davis, Rukeem Stroud, and Logan Powell.

Heading into a big weekend, the Wisconsin football program has 11 commitments and the No. 19-rated recruiting class in the country.
