According to the composite rankings, the Middleton High School standout is the No. 631 player in the nation, the No. 64 defensive lineman, and the No. 5 player in Wisconsin.

Pettaway initially committed to Wisconsin at the beginning of March over offers from Illinois, Minnesota, Nebraska, Rutgers, USC, and Washington. Former Badgers defensive line coach Greg Scruggs served as his primary recruiter before departing for a job at Michigan, but EJ Whitlow was able to close his recruitment out. Just three weeks after his commitment, the Middleton product announced he would de-commit from UW and flipped to Minnesota moments later. Now, he is back close to home.

The 6-foot-5, 265-pound defensive lineman is a two-sport athlete at Middleton High School, but last year was his first season playing football. In his junior year, Pettaway recorded 25 tackles, 5.0 TFLs, four sacks, two interceptions, and a forced fumble, according to WisSports. With those marks, he received First-Team All-Conference honors.
Pettaway was the Badgers’ first defensive line commitment in the 2025 cycle, and with the flip back, he is once again the sole defensive line commit.

Wisconsin football now holds 17 commitments in the 2025 cycle, which currently ranks as the No. 13 recruiting class in the country per the composite rankings.
