The Wisconsin football program landed in the top schools for a priority linebacker target in the 2025 recruiting cycle.

Four-star linebacker Mason Posa took to social media on Wednesday night to announce his top three, listing Wisconsin alongside Oregon and Texas A&M.

According to the composite rankings, Posa is rated as the No. 275 player in the nation, the No. 33 LB, and the No. 1 player in New Mexico.

Posa picked up 21 offers before trimming his list. He garnered some attention from notable programs, including Alabama, Washington, USC, Nebraska, Michigan State, Texas Tech, Utah, and others.

This news comes just before Posa’s official visit with the Badgers, which is set to take place this weekend as part of UW’s massive recruiting weekend.

Defensive coordinator Mike Tressel has done most of the heavy lifting in Posa’s recruitment up to this point, and his efforts have kept the Badgers well in the mix for the highly-touted linebacker.

In his junior season at La Cueva High School, Posa recorded 99 tackles, 14.0 TFLs, seven sacks, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and an interception, according to MaxPreps.

Wisconsin currently holds three linebacker commitments from Cooper Catalano, Brenden Anes, and Samuel Lateju. UW is expected to take a pair of inside linebackers in the 2025 cycle, and Posa is considered the top target to pair with Cooper Catalano on the inside.

Luke Fickell and company will have the opportunity to move the needle during Posa’s trip to Madison this weekend before the four-star linebacker makes stops at Oregon and Texas A&M.

Heading into a huge recruiting weekend, the Wisconsin football program holds the No. 19 class in the country per the composite rankings.
