While the Wisconsin football team has been on a roll the past couple of weeks, they can’t get everyone.

The Badgers hosted highly-touted 4-star offensive lineman Hardy Watts (Brookline, MA) on an official visit last weekend. Reports after the visit were extremely positive and even thoughts of a potential commitment to the Wisconsin football program floated around.

The Badgers already have a solid offensive line group coming in as a part of the 2025 recruiting class even without Watts. But Hardy Watts is a player you take regardless of depth at the position. He is the perfect example of a ‘cherry on top’ of a recruiting class.

After his visit to Wisconsin, he cancelled two of his three remaining visits to Duke and Boston College. All that remained was his visit to Michigan coming up on June 21. It felt like Michigan was going to be the Badgers’ top competition for the 6-6 interior lineman. But it seems there is a bigger threat to the Badgers’ hopes of landing Watts.

Austin Hannon, the insider for Clemson247, put in a Crystal Ball prediction for Hardy Watts to commit to the Clemson Tigers.

Watts visited Clemson June 2, the weekend before his visit with the Wisconsin football team. While his visit to Wisconsin went well, Hannon thinks it probably wasn’t enough to overtake the Tigers. The visit to Michigan could mess throw a wrench in everything for everyone. In fact, On3’s recruiting prediction machine give Michigan the edge with a 34 percent to land Watts with Clemson next at 29.7 percent. Wisconsin is third 19.3 percent.

Keep in mind, these predictions are just predictions. Insiders all have different information and may think a prospect is leaning their way based on conversations they are having, but may not have the whole picture.

You never know, after his visit to Michigan, Watts could still commit to the Wisconsin football team after all. But this prediction definitely dampens the hopes of many Wisconsin fans who thought Watts’ visit would lead to a commitment.
