It’s hard to believe, but the Wisconsin Football team is already in week three of their 2023 season. Currently, the Badgers sit a 1-1 after falling 31-22 to the Washington State Cougars Saturday night.

Up next for Wisconsin is a home game against the Georgia Southern Eagles. The Eagles sit at 2-0 after a 49-35 win over UAB last week.

Here is an early preview of what to expect from the Eagles.

Wisconsin Football Will Have to Defend the Pass Again

Just like the Washington State game, the Wisconsin defense will have to be ready to defend the pass. The Eagles are led by senior quarterback Davis Brin. Brin has already thrown the ball 83 times hand has completed 65 of them. It’s still early, but a 78% completion percentage is impressive.

On the other hand, Brin has struggled with turnovers. He has thrown an interception in each of the first two games. If Wisconsin football can get pressure on Brin, they could force a few turnovers- something they have not done a good job at to this point.

The Eagles Defense will Challenge the Wisconsin Football Secondary

I thought the secondary settled down as the game went along against Wazzu. They will have to bring their A game this week as the Eagles are loaded at the receiver position. At least three Eagles have recorded t least 12 catches and 80 yards with a touchdown.

The Eagles are led by receivers Derwin Burgess Jr and Khaleb Hood. While both are smaller receivers at 5’11 and 5’10 respectively, both have done a good job getting open and leading the offense to scoring 34 points and 49 points in the first two weeks. It’s going to be important for the Wisconsin secondary to tackle in the open field.

The Up and Down Defense

After shutting out The Citadel 34-0 in their first game, the Eagles defense gave up 35 points to UAB last week. While they have been solid on offense, the defense took a beating.

I only mention this because I think the Badgers have a great chance to put up some points this week. The passing game was much better last week and I believe the running game can get back on track. If the Wisconsin Football team can get their offense in sync this week, there’s a chance it could be a really good day for the Badgers.
