Wisconsin Football Offers Former 4-Star SEC Transfer Cornerback

Wisconsin football got a good look at its secondary during spring practice, and the coaching staff feels good about their top three cornerbacks, Alexander Smith, Ricardo Hallman, and Jason Maitre.

However, due to the overall inexperience behind them, Luke Fickell is scouring the transfer portal looking for a good fit.

Among the players UW’s recruiting staff identified was Alabama corner Jahquez Robinson, who recently entered the transfer portal. He confirmed to BadgerNotes that the Badgers extended a scholarship offer.

Robinson, a former four-star recruit out of Flordia, in the 2020 class, stands at 6-foot-2 and has the potential to make an immediate impact on Wisconsin’s defense.

Highly sought after coming out of high school, Robinson held offers from top programs such as Oklahoma, Michigan, Penn State, Texas, Florida, Georgia, and LSU. He ultimately chose to play for the Crimson Tide but found himself buried on the depth chart behind several blue-chip players in their secondary.

Now a redshirt junior, Robinson played eight games during his Alabama career, mainly in a reserve and special teams role. The defensive back recorded two tackles, one pressure, and 0.5 sacks.

Thoughts on Wisconsin Football + Their Pursuit of Jahquez Robinson

Despite reports from several outlets, Jahquez Robinson has yet to visit the Wisconsin football program (although he was supposed to) because he’s still finishing classes.

Wisconsin quickly expressed interest in Robinson, recognizing his size and athleticism as valuable assets they could use for their new-look defense. That said, the former Alabama corner is interested in the Badgers but described his offer list as “an open book.”

If Robinson transferred to the Wisconsin football program, he could immediately compete for a spot in the two-deep with a chance to step into a featured role in 2023.

One way or another, the Badgers will land an experienced corner to join the secondary.
