Madison, Wis. – The Wisconsin football staff has been keeping a close eye on a certain 2025 four-star recruit following his successful season.

Gabe Kaminiski, a 2025 four-star edge rusher from Illinois, has held an offer from the Badgers since last July. The new Badgers coaching regime hopes to rekindle the strong bond Kaminski once had with Wisconsin. The rising Junior in high school still has two more seasons before he reaches the next level, which gives Wisconsin plenty of time to do their recruiting. Kaminski currently ranks as the sixth player in Illinois and the 22nd edge rusher in the class.

Could Gabe Kaminski Become a Badger?

Coming in at 6-foot-3-inches, 215-pounds, Kaminski is an aggressive rusher and uses his size to his advantage. The talented edge is stronger and faster than his opponents, which allows for dominant runs at the quarterback often. Kaminski is also a tenacious defender as he is consistently found near the ball at the end of each play. The powerful edge rusher dominated the competition for his team this past season and put himself on the radar of many programs.

This past season as a Sophomore, Kaminski recorded 72 total tackles, 38 tackles for loss, and 17.5 sacks. The edge rusher also recorded two strip sacks and over 40 quarterback hurries. Kaminski received All-Conference and All-Academic honors following the completion of last season as well. After having an incredible season on the field, Kaminski received offers from the following schools:

  • Arizona State University
  • Notre Dame
  • Northwestern
  • Purdue
  • University of Southern California
  • University of Minnesota

It is currently unclear whether or not the Wisconsin Badgers have contacted Kaminski recently. However, Wisconsin football staff members were in attendance during a recent Rivals Football camp that the recruit attended. The edge rusher has yet to visit the campus since his main contact within the program, Bobby April III, left to accept the job as the Stanford defensive coordinator. Kaminski has visited campus, however, in March of last year.

Wisconsin Football Recruiting Profile: Gabe Kaminski

The talented edge rusher has made multiple visits already this year, with Notre Dame and Northwestern being the hosts. The recruit has the ability to excel at the next level, but still needs to work on certain aspects of his game. Kaminski has a small array of moves, which can make his options predictable. The recruit also needs to develop his pursuit ability, but given the fact that he has two more years of high school, there is plenty of time.

The Wisconsin Badgers football staff has chosen not to pursue some offers the old regime had given. While they have re-offered certain players, other players have not received the same attention. It is unclear what the status of Kaminski is, but his recruitment is still wide open, which could give the Badgers an open recruitment route.

The Badgers will have to battle to get back into the race for the talented four-star edge rusher, Gabe Kaminski.
