The Wisconsin football program extended its second in-state offer in the 2026 recruiting class on Sunday.

Samuel Simpson, a River Falls native, took to social media to announce he had received an offer from UW.

Wisconsin is now the second school to offer a scholarship, joining Kansas, which offered on May 21st. Iowa State has also begun to show interest, and Simpson will camp with UW, Minnesota, Purdue, Iowa, and Nebraska this summer.

Simpson joins the state’s No. 1 ranked prospect, Oak Creek’s James Thomas, as the two in-state prospects to receive offers in the 2026 cycle.

In his sophomore season at River Falls High School, the 6-foot-4, 285-pound lineman earned First-Team All-Conference honors.

Badgers offensive line coach AJ Blazek extended the offer to Simpson. Since coming to Wisconsin, Blazek has earned two high school commitments in the 2025 cycle from Logan Powell and Cam Clark and brought in Vanderbilt transfer Leyton Nelson via the transfer portal. He’s also serving as the primary recruiter for a handful of other offensive line targets in the 2026 class.

There’s a long way to go in Simpson’s recruitment, but Wisconsin football jumped into the mix early, which could bode well for the program’s chances in the long term.
