Wisconsin Football Waiting On Two Major 2024 Commitment Decisions
Madison, Wis. – The Wisconsin football staff is fresh off of a major commitment in the 2024 class. Now, the staff is awaiting two major commitment decisions.
Darrion Dupree and Benedict Umeh, two four-star 2024 recruits, are scheduled to announce their commitments this week. The Wisconsin football staff has been closely tied to each recruit. Dupree, in particular, has held a crystal ball prediction for the Badgers. Each recruit has spent significant time in Madison in the past. Now, with their commitment announcements nearing, the Badgers are holding on and hoping they can land each recruit.
Wisconsin Badgers Eyeing More 2024 Commitments Before July Ends
Both Dupree and Umeh are massive recruits that are currently still on the board for the Badgers. Wisconsin currently has the 30th ranked recruiting class, according to 247 Sports. The Wisconsin football staff could shift their ranking by landing one of the two recruits scheduled to commit. Likely, Wisconsin will land the talented running back Dupree, but that does not mean that they are not in contention for Umeh still.
Darrion Dupree, a four-star running back from Illinois, is scheduled to make his college announcement on July 7th. As stated previously, Dupree has held a crystal ball prediction for the Wisconsin Badgers for quite some time now. The Badgers have been in the lead for his recruitment, and barring any major changes he should become a Badger. Dupree would be the second running back to commit to the 2024 class for the Badgers. Three-star Gideon Ituka was the first commitment in the class and added another layer of physicality to the team.
For Benedict Umeh, the four-star Canadian would be the highest-rated commitment in the 2024 class for the Badgers. Umeh transferred to Avon Old Farms in Avon, Connecticut for his Junior and Senior years of high school. Since transferring, the 6-foot-5-inch, 265-pound defensive lineman emerged as a presence on the football field. Umeh has an array of moves that work perfectly with his size and strength and leave the offense clueless.
Wisconsin Football May Have Locked Up One Recruit, but What About Benedict Umeh?
Currently, Umeh is the 12th ranked defensive lineman in the class and the top-ranked recruit in the state of Connecticut. Umeh is also the 81st ranked recruit overall with 38 total scholarship offers. The Stanford Cardinals currently hold two crystal ball predictions for the talented lineman, but there are four total teams in play. Wisconsin, Penn State, Stanford, and Duke appear to be the final four schools for Umeh, which gives the Badgers quite the battle.
For Darrion Dupree, the relationship between the Badgers staff and the running back has only grown over time. Dupree is down to Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri, and Washington as his final four schools. The running back has taken multiple visits to each program, but announced his commitment date following his recent Madison visit.
Both Dupree and Umeh are fantastic recruits that the Wisconsin football staff would be elated to have. While Dupree already seems to be leaning towards the Badgers, the defensive lineman Umeh is still up in the air. The Badgers will need to make a big push last minute in order to land the four-star duo.
