Wisconsin Basketball Picks Up Crystal Ball for 2025 In-State Recruit
A Wisconsin basketball recruiting insider has placed a crystal ball prediction for the Badgers to land a recently offered 2025 in-state target.
Wisconsin basketball head coach Greg Gard isn’t one to offer considerable scholarships in any recruiting cycle. So when you receive an offer from the Badgers — recruits know they’re a high-priority target.
UW has just eight known scholarship offers in the 2025 recruiting cycle, five of which are to in-state products. Among the most notable players from that group is De Pere shooting guard Zach Kinziger, who picked up an offer after an impressive showing at the Badgers’ annual advanced camp.
“I’ve always liked the way they play and grew up cheering for them my whole life,” Kinziger said.
For Kinziger, it was his first Power 5 scholarship offer, joining an offer list that includes Cal Poly, Illinois State, Toledo, and UW-Green Bay.
Even though a theoretical decision isn’t usually close to coming this early in recruitment, a 247Sports recruiting insider dropped an interesting crystal ball that might suggest otherwise.
Wisconsin Basketball Picks Up Crystal Ball Prediction to Land Zach Kinziger
Seemingly out of nowhere, Zach Kinziger, the unranked 2025 shooting guard, picked up a crystal ball prediction from Wisconsin basketball insider Evan Flood with a confidence of “7.”
The 6-foot-3, 175-pound shooting guard is coming off a sophomore season where he averaged 15 points per game and three assists for the Redbirds.
What’s interesting about this is that Coach Gard has struggled to land in-state products for several years now, but someone like Kinziger makes too much sense stylistically to pass on.
Wisconsin basketball has a long-standing tradition of blue-collar kids that can shoot and play hard-nosed defense — and Kinziger is cut from that exact same cloth. Although he’s a bit undersized for the position, he plays the game with all the intangibles you look for at the division one level.
UW is also in a good spot with three-star center Will Garlock from Middleton, so this could finally be the year the Badgers land a couple of in-state products to build around for the future.
