Wisconsin Badgers Tale of the Tape
Tyson Waughtel will be joining the Wisconsin Badgers by way of Carlyle, Illinois and is a two-time Illinois State Champion and a three-time state finalist. His senior year should be electric!
This explosive 126LB was an overtime takedown surrendered from being the reigning, defending, back-to-back-to back Illinois State Champion.
In his first Illinois state title run – Waughtel was a blistering 50-0!
In his freestyle matches he shows great movement and has very scrambles. Waughtel is very quick with both attacks, counters, and reattacks. One thing I love about this commitment is that he has a lot of exposure in the freestyle world which emphasizes scoring.
He’s the perfect style of wrestler for a coach like Chris Bono to add because he wants his guys to be very physical and attack.
It is unclear if Waughtel which weight will start out and will likely depend on the needs of the team and how he takes to a college strength program. I like the idea of him being in the 133LB or 141LB because the length he has would present for this weight class could be a matchup problem.
I am very excited about this add to the Wisconsin Badgers wrestling room. Coach Bono is really doing a nice job stocking the room with competition and letting the boys sort it out!
