Miami cornerback D’Yoni Hill commits to Wisconsin football
Former Miami (FL) cornerback D’Yoni Hill has committed to the Wisconsin Badgers football team after an official visit.
The Wisconsin football team addressed another key need through the transfer portal, landing a commitment from former Miami (FL) cornerback D’Yoni Hill.
Hill announced his decision on social media, becoming the second cornerback transfer to join Luke Fickell the Badgers this offseason from the portal, alongside Jacksonville State’s Geimere Latimer.
“Success isn’t owned, it’s leased, and rent is due every day,” Hill wrote. "🔴⚪️ let’s get to work 💯 percent committed."
Hill brings some much-needed experience to a depleted Badgers secondary. Over the past three seasons, he appeared in 34 games, recording 89 total tackles, 12 pass breakups, and one interception in 1,066 defensive snaps—with 959 of them coming on the outside—and 107 in the slot.
During the 2024 campaign, the 6-foot defensive back registered 33 tackles and a pass breakup for the Hurricanes. Originally a three-star recruit out of Gainesville High School in Florida, Hill began his career at Marshall, where he spent two years before transferring to Miami ahead of the 2024 season.
According to Pro Football Focus, Hill earned a 57.7 defensive grade this past season, with a 56.9 mark in coverage. He was targeted 33 times, allowing 18 catches for 290 yards and one touchdown. The Badgers staff is banking on Hill recapturing his 2023 form, where he posted a solid 74.1 defensive grade and a 70.9 coverage grade across 671 snaps.
Wisconsin’s secondary has been hit hard this offseason, losing six defensive backs to the portal, including four cornerbacks—Amare Snowden, Jonas Duclona, Jace Arnold, and Xavier Lucas, whose status remains in limbo due to a unique and ongoing situation with the program.
With Hill now in the fold, the Badgers gain a seasoned option with one year of eligibility remaining who can come in and compete for snaps while helping re-establish the floor of Paul Haynes' room.
As it stands, Wisconsin’s scholarship cornerbacks on the roster include only Latimer, Omillio Agard and Jay Harper, with incoming freshmen Jaimier Scott, Cairo Skanes, and Jahmare Washington providing additional depth.
Ricardo Hallman also has the option to return but has yet to announce whether he intends to return for a final season. Hill’s arrival gives the Badgers someone who's played meaningful snaps in the ACC and can help lead the younger corners as they prepare for the 2025 season.
This marks Wisconsin’s 19th transfer portal commitment, a group that now ranks top 10 nationally per 247Sports.
