Wisconsin football parts ways with 2026 quarterback Jarin Mock
The Wisconsin Badgers coaching staff has made the decision to part ways with a quarterback commitment in their 2026 recruiting class.
Quarterback Jarin Mock, the first commitment of the Wisconsin football team's 2026 recruiting class, is no longer part of the program.
After evaluating the roster during the transition to new offensive coordinator Jeff Grimes, the Badgers determined that Mock wasn’t an ideal fit for their offensive approach moving forward.
Mock, a 6-foot-3, 200-pound quarterback from Pickerington North High School in Ohio, committed to Wisconsin in July under former offensive coordinator Phil Longo, over scholarship offers from Central Michigan, Marshall, Miami (OH), and UMass.
However, the offensive shift under Grimes—who replaced Longo following his in-season firing—has altered the Badgers’ philosophy, which now emphasizes a more physical, pro-style system with heavier personnel packages.
“After a brief conversation with Wisconsin, they are no longer honoring my commitment," Mock wrote on X.
"With that being said, my recruitment is 100% open.”
This decision reflects a broader reset within Wisconsin’s quarterback room. Every scholarship player brought in under Longo’s tenure, including 2024 signee Mabrey Mettauer and 2025 commit Landyn Locke, has since departed the program. Even Braedyn Locke, Cole LaCrue, and Tyler Van Dyke have all entered the transfer portal, signaling a complete overhaul from top to bottom.
Wisconsin is now focused on rebuilding its depth and recruiting board under Grimes and newly minted quarterbacks coach Kenny Guiton.
Mock, who threw for 2,605 yards and 23 touchdowns during his junior season, is now back on the market. Despite his decommitment, the three-star signal-caller remains a coveted prospect, with Iowa State, Cincinnati, and several others already reaching out to gauge his availability.
With just one player—three-star offensive lineman Benjamin Novak—committed to their 2026 class, the Badgers are in pursuit of new quarterback targets and could take two this cycle. Wisconsin recently offered Bowe Bentley, an unranked quarterback from Texas, and will assuredly add more names to their radar as the offseason unfolds.
The shake-up marks a notable moment for Wisconsin football as Luke Fickell and his staff continue to reshape the team with an offense that blends physicality and the ability to push the ball downfield, aiming to return to the program’s roots while building on modern passing concepts.
