Wisconsin Football Might Have Found Its Quarterback of the Future
UW completely revamped its quarterback room this offseason and, in doing so, might have stumbled upon its QB of the future.
Luke Fickell and the Wisconsin football team made headlines in the offseason by bringing in not one, not two, but three transfer quarterbacks from the transfer portal.
After losing Graham Mertz to the transfer portal, coach Fickell and offensive coordinator Phil Longo were determined to add competition at the position for their new air raid offense.
While all three quarterbacks received hype and attention, perhaps none more than Tanner Mordecai and former top 10 signal caller Nick Evers, it was the least heralded of the trio, Braedyn Locke, who may have emerged as the quarterback of the future for the Badgers.
“He [Locke] is the model of consistency, and he’s gotten better with each practice,” Longo told reporters.
Braedyn Locke Made a Strong First Impression in Spring Practice
Braedyn Locke came to Wisconsin football after a redshirt season at Mississippi State and has four years of eligibility remaining.
The 6-foot-1, 210-pound signal-caller is a former four-star recruit from Rockwall High School in Texas, and his play in spring practices caught the attention of the coaching staff and his teammates.
According to reports, he was consistently accurate, made good decisions, and showed an elite understanding of the playbook. He also demonstrated a passable arm, capable of making all the throws required in Wisconsin’s offense.
