Wisconsin basketball offer 'means a lot' to 2027 forward Donovan Davis
The Wisconsin men's basketball coaches have made their first offer in the 2027 recruiting class to in-state forward Donovan Davis.
Wisconsin Badgers head basketball coach Greg Gard liked what he saw from an in-state forward at the team's Advanced camp on Thursday and decided it was time to throw their hat in the ring.
Having watched Donovan Davis at camp and the WBCA June Jam, Gard extended a scholarship offer to the sophomore forward, making him the first player in the 2027 class to receive such an offer from the Badgers.Â
"I received my offer from Coach Gard, and he said that he liked how I played and how I had poise," Davis told Badgernotes. "It means a lot to me since my first offer is from my home state team."
Davis, a standout forward from Freedom High School, stands 6-foot-7 and weighs 200 pounds. According to Prep Hoops, Davis is rated as the No. 4 overall player for Wisconsin's 2027 in-state class and the No. 1 power forward.Â
As a freshman, Davis averaged 17.7 points, 9.5 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 2.6 steals per game, shooting 63% from the field and 43% from beyond the arc.

While not currently ranked by the major recruiting services, Davis has the requisite size, athleticism, and shooting touch to become the top overall in-state prospect and see his recruitment blow up because of the upside.
Davis has a solid frame, is a fluid athlete, and uses his length to disrupt passing lanes. He can also score in various ways, creating for himself off the dribble or getting to the basket and finishing strong inside.Â
Depending on both his physical and on-court development, Davis, who competes for Team Herro in the AAU circuit, possesses the versatility to either play on the wing or serve as a hybrid frontcourt option in the future.
In addition to the Wisconsin Badgers, Davis is also receiving interest from Iowa State and UW-Green Bay.Â
