Wisconsin Badgers RB Braelon Allen receives All-Big Ten honors

The Wisconsin Badgers had just one player, Braelon Allen, named to an All-Big Ten offensive team, with four others receiving honorable mention nods.

MADISON, Wis — On Wednesday, only one Wisconsin football player earned All-Big Ten offensive honors for the 2022 college football season, with four others receiving honorable mention nods. 

Sophomore running back Braelon Allen, who finished second-team All-Big Ten as a true freshman, was named a consensus second-team All-Big Ten pick for the second year in a row.

The 6-foot-2, 238-pound RB finished the season with 208 carries for 1,126 yards (5.4 YPC) and 10 touchdowns. He also caught a career-high 11 passes for 104 yards.

To help put his stats into perspective, here's a look at where those numbers ranked among the Big Ten: No. 6 in rush attempts, No. 4 in rushing yards, No. 4 in rushing touchdowns, and No. 5 in yards from scrimmage.

According to PFF, the Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin native registered 610 yards after contact, 2.93 yards after contact per attempt, and was the third-highest-graded offensive player for the Badgers (79.4).

It may not have been the breakout season that many fans, myself included, were expecting from the sophomore tailback. But it was a pretty damn good season nonetheless.

No other Wisconsin football player on offense made first, second, or third team All-Big Ten.

Others receiving honors

Center Joe Tippmann, left guard Tanor Bortolini, left tackle Jack Nelson, and wide receiver Chimere Dike all received honorable mention All-Big Ten nods from the media.
