Barstool Big Cat launching NIL initiative to help the Badgers land a quarterback
Big Cat has a plan to bring a top-tier QB to the Badgers through a NIL initiative involving Stella Blue Coffee.
Wisconsin Badgers head coach Luke Fickell has dealt with his fair share of tough breaks—and inconsistent play—at the quarterback position early in his tenure, much of it stemming from untimely injuries. Fortunately for the program, a passionate alum is ready to step in and offer a solution.
Barstool Sports owner Dave Portnoy announced he's willing to put up some significant NIL money to help tackle Michigan's quarterback issues in the transfer portal. Portnoy, a diehard Wolverines fan, committed between $1-3 million annually for them to secure a top-10 signal-caller to lead the team.
“Michigan, I will be your quarterback guy,” Portnoy said on Barstool Pick Em. “I’ll talk to Sherrone [Moore], ‘Who do you guys want? Who’s in there?’ Give me a group. I’ll go sign them. $1 million. $2 million. Whatever it is…$3 million.”
Not to be outdone, Dan "Big Cat" Katz, one of Wisconsin’s most well-known supporters, jumped in at that point, pledging to do the same for the Badgers football team—a commitment he has since doubled down on.
